Warnings and Usage Precautions

⚠ Important warning

VibraTools is not a medical device. This sound generation tool is intended for scientific research, personal exploration and well-being. It does not in any way replace a diagnosis, medical advice or treatment prescribed by a healthcare professional.

Use of VibraTools is at your own risk. Neither the publisher (OpenVib®) nor the Institut Marc Henry shall be held liable for inappropriate use or for the direct or indirect consequences of using this software.

Hearing safety

Prolonged exposure to high sound levels can cause irreversible hearing damage (tinnitus, hyperacusis, hearing loss). The World Health Organization (WHO) sets the following exposure limits:

Sound levelMax duration / day
85 dB8 hours
90 dB2.5 hours
95 dB47 minutes
100 dB15 minutes
110 dB1.5 minutes
120 dB0 seconds

Hearing safety rules

  • Always start at low volume, increase gradually.
  • Use the 60/60 rule: 60% of maximum volume, 60 minutes max per session.
  • If you have to raise your voice to speak over the sound, the volume is too high.
  • Stop immediately if you experience ringing, buzzing, muffled ear sensation or pain.
  • Hearing damage is cumulative and irreversible.

Binaural beats — specific risks

Binaural beats induce a phenomenon of neural entrainment (brainwave entrainment): the brain synchronizes its electrical activity to the frequency of the perceived beat. This mechanism, while scientifically documented, is not without risks.

Possible side effects

  • Headaches, nausea, dizziness (especially when starting out).
  • Anxiety, agitation (high beta/gamma frequencies).
  • Excessive drowsiness (delta/theta frequencies) — do not use while driving.
  • Emotional resurgence (deep theta states).
  • Seizure triggering in photosensitive epileptic individuals.

Headphones required: binaural mode requires stereo headphones. Without headphones, the left and right channels mix in the air and the brain beat effect is lost — you hear a classic monaural beat, without the intended neural entrainment effect.

Contraindications

The following categories of people must consult a doctor before any use of audio frequency generators or binaural beats:

Absolute contraindications

  • Epilepsy — especially photosensitive epilepsy (3–5% of cases).
  • Cardiac pacemaker or implanted defibrillator.
  • Cochlear implants or internal hearing aids.

Enhanced precautions

  • Pregnant women (first trimester in particular).
  • Psychiatric disorders (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, psychosis).
  • History of seizures.
  • Severe neurological disorders.
  • Chronic migraines.
  • Children under 12 years of age.

State of scientific research

Research on the therapeutic effects of sound frequencies is an active but still emerging field. Here is the current state of knowledge:

What science confirms

  • Binaural beats can modulate brain waves (EEG) — meta-analysis by Garcia-Argibay et al., 2019.
  • Modest but significant effects on anxiety — several randomized controlled trials.
  • Potential improvement of attention and working memory — Chaieb et al., 2015.
  • Effects on pain perception — Zampi, 2016.

What remains to be demonstrated

  • Long-term effects of regular binaural beat exposure.
  • Specific effects of the 429.621 Hz frequency on cellular water — research ongoing at the Institut Marc Henry.
  • Influence of the phase parameter on molecular structuring.
  • Differences in effectiveness between binaural, isochronic and monaural.
  • Optimal doses (frequency, duration, intensity) for each application.

Institut Marc Henry position: Marc Henry's research on the water frequency (429.621 Hz) represents a promising avenue but still requires large-scale controlled studies before definitive conclusions can be drawn regarding therapeutic effects.

Water frequency (429.621 Hz) — specific precautions

The 429.621 Hz frequency, derived from the mass of the water molecule through E = mc² and E = hf, is at the heart of the Institut Marc Henry's research. Preliminary observations suggest notable physiological effects:

  • Reactions in comatose patients (source: Nexus, 2024).
  • Effects on the structuring of intracellular water.
  • Sensations of heat, tingling, or changes in body perception.

Precautions

Due to the penetrating nature of this frequency in cellular water, start with short sessions (5–10 min) at low volume. Gradually increase duration and intensity. Any unusual reaction should lead to immediate discontinuation.

Recommended equipment

  • Closed-back stereo headphones of good quality (required for binaural).
  • Frequency response covering at least 20 Hz – 20 kHz.
  • Avoid in-ear earbuds at high volume (proximity to eardrum).
  • Check that your equipment has no distortion at low frequencies.
  • Speakers: for monaural/isochronic mode only (no binaural).
  • Microphone: required only for the Tuner. All audio processing is 100% local — no captured sound is recorded, stored or transmitted.

In case of problems

  • Stop immediately the sound (OFF button or STOP ALL).
  • Remove headphones and move to a quiet environment.
  • Drink water — stay hydrated.
  • If symptoms persist (dizziness, headache, confusion, tinnitus), consult a doctor.
  • In France: SAMU (15) · Firefighters (18) · Emergency (112).
